About
When I was pregnant at 37, I had no idea where to start. I’d spent most of my life living for me and turning a blind eye to anything kid-related. Then I got pregnant and unlocked the baby section of Target and realized it was a whole new world—you had to compare products, check price points, read reviews, and figure out what you even needed.

It was overwhelming, and the endless ads didn’t help. Thankfully, a few mom friends shared what actually worked, and their support made all the difference.
That’s what I want Bubsprout to be—a pregnancy and motherhood blog that’s a place of support for moms. I started this blog to help simplify baby registries, but it’s grown into so much more: pregnancy, early motherhood, and all the mess in-between.
What Does Bubsprout Mean?
When I was brainstorming a name for this site, I knew I didn’t want something overly cutesy or “mommy blog” sounding (even though this is a pregnancy and motherhood blog.) I wanted something simple, short, cute, personal.
I played around with a long list of words I liked, testing combinations until something clicked. At one point, I almost went with Tot Scout — but then realized it could be misread as scouting for tots (yikes… accidental trafficking vibes). Definitely not the message I was going for!
I’ve been calling my son “Bubba” since he was born, so “Bub” is my little nod to him. And “Sprout” just felt right — it’s full of meaning: new growth: the growth of my baby, the way I’m growing as a person since becoming a mom, and even the growth of this blog itself, which has become my creative outlet.
If you want a peek into the (literal) hurricane that kicked this all off, you can read my birth story here.
